Excessive body weight puts you at risk for many health problems. If you are planning to lose weight to avoid those health problems you will need to set up a good weight loss plan. Short-term and long-term goals will help you get there, but what should those goals be? Making these goals sensible and reasonable will help ensure you a better chance of being successful, especially in the beginning.
Listed below are some guidelines revealed by experts to use when choosing weight loss plans and setting your goals.
1. Be realistic in what you set out to do. Don’t be too ambitious in developing your long-term plans. Many people do—and they are way to ambitious in their expectations. What may be termed as an unrealistic goal is looking at your age and weight now and trying to get down to a weight that you had when you were many, many years younger.
The National Institutes of Health says your body mass index should be between 19 and 24.9. Look at this to determine if you should need to shed those extra pounds. If your body mass index is between 25 and 29.9 you are considered overweight and may need to lose weight. Any number over 30 is considered obese.
So, looking at it from this point of view, you will need realistic goals and plans that will correspond with the body mass index figures based on your height. This is the primary way a body mass index is figured.
2. Look at and set some appropriate objectives. You have made a big decision to lose weight. Don’t let vanity drive your weight loss program because this is truly the wrong psychological mindset. Losing weight by eating right and exercising with the right plan will help you feel better and you will have more energy for the positive things in your life.
3. Really focus on doing what you need to do—not on losing weight. Focus on what you are going to eat and how much you are going to exercise for the week. This would be sensible and you will lose weight. remember—what you weigh within the span of a week in not completely within your control, but your behavior is.
4. Build on your plan bit by bit. Do not take big chunks at a time. As said before—don’t be too ambitious. An all-or-nothing attitude is destructive and will not help. A short-term weight loss plan should not be a “pie in the sky” plan. If you have not exercised for a very long time consider walking for the exercise routine and vary where you walk.
5. Encourage yourself to succeed. Look at yourself and learn to evaluate your efforts fairly and objectively. If you do not meet your goal for the week, look ahead positively and know you do not have to have a perfect plan. Encouraging yourself to succeed will help stop the nagging thoughts of failure where you will surely go if you don’t.
6. Measure your progress in ways that you understand. Check your weight, your measurements, and your thoughts and statements about your weight loss plan. Are they positive? You should not look at not meeting your objectives as weak. Think of your plan just as a plan—flexible and goal orientated.

Some of you will not like what I have to say, even though it is the truth. And that may be where the problem of American’s health problems lies. No one wants to give you the truth. My responsibility as a high profile fitness expert lies not in if you like me, or even if you buy my e books. My responsibility lies in giving you straight talk with no sugar coating it.

You want quick fixes to your health problem that has taken years to develop. You get it by purchasing gimmicks that promise you fast results. You fall for it, and at the end of the day you are more frustrated than every. Why? Because you are denying the root of your problems.

I have counseled thousands of people over my twenty year tender as a personal trainer, health club consultant and best selling author. And in all my travels, the answers to people’s problems with weight come down to one thing: it’s a matter of choice!

My approach with people is, either you pay a price now or you will pay a bigger price down the road. I am really tired of dancing around and trying to pat people on the back and say, “It’s OK you can do it.” When all the while, most I know are in the least bit serious about their health, and have no idea what they are in for down the road.

If you are on the fence of whether or not to start an exercise and weight loss plan, I suggest you either become hot or cold. None of this luke warm stuff. You, America is on the verge of a health crisis. The longer you wait the more of chance you have of having a disease.

You also have a matter of choice on all these gimmicks out there. Don’t waste your money on products that are not long lasting and do not teach you anything. I know you want fast results but you will just waste your money. Let me remind you, until you deal with your approach to weight loss the other is pie in the sky. Here are the keys to weight loss:

Determine HOW you are motivated

Determine the REASONS behind the unwanted behaviors.

Develop a great support system

Eat for fuel not for taste

Keep being active.

Here is a portion of one of my e books at www.resolutions.bz I didn’t have much time to pack my bags that day; matter of fact, I’m still wearing the same clothes I put on that morning.

I met all three of them on the way up here. They said they would hitch a ride, but they were not sure they would be welcome where I was going.

I thought it was unusual to learn how much they knew about me. Did I meet them at some restaurant my family and I went to? Did I see them at the doctor’s office? I know, maybe it was at a bunko party or the golf course? I just couldn’t put my finger on how I knew them until today.

It’s pretty nice here though–peaceful, always something to do, good conversation. However, I sure miss my family. I wish I didn’t have to leave them soon, but how would I have known?

The three of them said they warned me time and time again. How? When? Where? I wondered. I thought I read all the right books and talked to the right people. I even participated at times.

Lazy was probably the one I got along with the best during that short time we spent together. He was the only transparent one of the three. Others might have thought if they saw us together we were twins. We were so much alike.

The other two were much more reserved and timid. Don’t let those guys fool you. I learned quickly they were stubborn old boys with rough edges–two of the biggest know-it-alls I had ever met. They called themselves Denial and Pride. And if you ever met them, I think you would agree they were named correctly.

As I crossed the line, I will never forget what they said to me as we raised our hands to each other and waved goodbye, “If only you had known.”

DON’T LET THIS BE YOU! START TODAY! LET ME HELP YOU!

A healthy weight loss plan is a plan that can make you lose weight in long term and good for your weight loss maintenance. Here is a healthy weight loss plan that you can carry out:

Exercise
Exercise is very important for weight loss. It plays a major role in a healthy weight loss plan. A regular exercise 30 minutes daily is sufficient to make you lose weight. Go walking, jogging or swimming with your friends who likes exercise. This will encourage you and make you exercise more.

Focus Your Mind on Losing Weight
To focus your mind on losing weight is another healthy weight loss plan. If you read Napoleon Hill “Think and Grow Rich”, Napoleon Hill wrote “Thought Are Things”. This simply means that if you focus your mind on losing weight, mixed with persistence, your purpose of your healthy weight loss plan and a burning desire to lose weight, you will lose weight.

Record Your Daily Calorie Intake
It is very useful to record your daily calorie intake in a diary. Every healthy weight loss plan should include this practice. In any healthy weight loss plan, it is very important for you to keep track of your calorie intake because you need to determine how much calories you need daily and how much you need to burn daily.

Eat Only Small Portion
This is also a healthy weight loss plan which will give you great results. You eat only small portion from each of your meals 4 to 5 times daily. In this healthy weight loss plan, you eat half of whatever you usually eat.

Healthy Eating at a Restaurant
If you are now on a healthy weight loss plan, but you love going to restaurants, here is some guides for you to healthy eating at a restaurant.

a. Just drink plain water, Chinese tea or green tea without sugar

b. Skip the appetizer menu. At restaurants appetizers are usually high-fat foods and they are bad for your healthy weight loss plan. For example, these appetizers are mozzarella sticks, chicken wings and potato skins

c. When you order the main dish, avoid high fat food and cream sauces. Split your meal in half, half for eating in the restaurant, half for take-away. This you can eat as leftovers during breakfast tomorrow. By practicing this you will have a healthy weight loss plan and save your money

d. If you are going to order dessert, just order one dessert and share with your companion. This practice is important for your healthy weight loss plan because most desserts in restaurants have more calories than your entire meal

Fast For 2 To 3 Days a Week
This is a very effective healthy weight loss plan. However it requires patient and practices. You fast 12 hours a day for 2 to 3 days a week. The night before you fast you should eat your regular meal and tell yourself that you are going to fast the next day. During your fast breaking, do not over eat and just eat your regular meal.

Fasting as a healthy weight loss plan is totally different than starving. You will die if you starve yourself but you will be healthy if you fast as fasting will give your digestive system a rest.

However, if you have any medical problems, consult your physician before you start fasting.

Eat Slowly
When you are on a healthy weight loss plan, it is recommended that you eat slowly. Eating slowly can lead to losing weight because our brain takes about 20 minutes to tell us that we are full.
