It can be really difficult to focus on holistic nutrition when you suffer from cravings for those sweet, sugary products. When we actually see those temptations around us, it can be even more difficult to stay in control. We only have to travel to the gas station or the corner store for something totally unrelated and right before our eyes we see those enticing donuts in the checkout line or candy bars right next to the cash register. Cravings can be incredibly challenging to handle, particularly if you haven’t eaten anything for a few hours. The combination of feeling really hungry and that intense desire for something sweet can be hard to resist, and most of the time – before you know it, you’ve given in to your sugar addiction once again.
There are a variety of factors within the body that can be responsible for making sugar cravings happen, particularly when it comes to insulin production and long term habits. If, for instance, you’ve accustomed yourself to drinking sugary drinks regularly throughout the day, your body might have become accustomed to large spikes in glucose – and the resulting insulin production, which thereby leads to a continuous level of anticipation in your system.
It’s important to take a really balanced look at holistic health solutions in your life if you find that you are constantly having to fight off those sugar cravings. At this point, an essential area for you to give your attention to should be the balance of your overall diet. Sometimes you may not be getting as much protein as you should and you may need to realize that what your body is really asking you for is protein and not sugar.
As we’ve said before, temptations are virtually everywhere, and most of the time you can’t do much about their location. However, you can certainly clean your house of these temptations, where you have overall control and this means not stocking up on those tempting “after dinner” treats, or that carton of “Ben and Jerry’s,” sitting in its special place in your freezer!
You should know that there is a difference between simple processed sugar and sugar that is already contained within foods. Processed foods and candy bars, processed juices and soda drinks all contain sugars that contain zero calories or nutritional value and these are responsible for that “high” and subsequent low. Fruits, on the other hand, contain naturally occurring sugars which interact with your body in an entirely different way. We know that nutritional experts are always preaching at us to eat more fruits and vegetables and if you can get into the habit of eating an item of fruit every day, you will get beneficial fibers, vitamins and minerals as well.
Do not underestimate the power that this sugar addiction can have over you. You will need to make significant dietary changes and have a lot of willpower to be able to get through the early stages. Pay attention to everything that you buy in the grocery store from now on and read the labels to reveal your best buying choices. A sensible approach to holistic nutrition along with a few other holistic health solutions will soon help you to overcome your sugar addiction.

Jennifer is a middle-aged single mother with a young daughter. She has been avoiding sugary foods for a few weeks. And she has also been faithfully watching her portions. She has been exercising for an hour 4 times a week as well. However, she has not lost any weight, and doesn’t know why.
This is not uncommon. You might be doing everything you can to lose weight, but can’t seem to make any progress. Consequently, you are frustrated or depressed and are ready to give up.
One problem is that many diets are homogeneous. They don’t consider the individual’s physiology, metabolism, and lifestyle. They are a cookie-cutter approach to weight loss, which doesn’t work in most cases. Therefore, employing the services of a registered dietician may be the best solution. This can be done in person or via the Internet, where you can contact your dietician any time of the day or night via e-mail. Your dietician will be your personal coach and cheerleader, helping you through the inevitable setbacks.
Lack of support is a big reason that diets often fail. You might feel like you have no one to talk to about your weight problems. When this is the case, some individuals go to psychotherapists to help them with their food-related issues. This can be very helpful, especially if an individual suffers from an eating disorder, such as anorexia or bulimia. Bulimia and anorexia are serious diseases that need to be treated by a medical professional in order to ensure the recovery of the patient.
Hidden calories in the foods we eat is another pitfall of dieting. Often, we are consuming calories and don’t even know it. Sugary drinks like sodas and fruit juices are a common source of unneeded calories. By switching to diet drinks, or drinking water, and substituting skim milk for whole milk, you can eliminate the hidden calories that are keeping you from reaching your weight loss goals.
Being a yoyo dieter is another problem. You might start a diet, then quit before you’ve made any measurable progress because you are bored or feel deprived. Healthy weight loss is not often quick, and involves losing only a couple of pounds per week. Keeping a positive attitude and sticking with a healthy diet plan is key to losing weight.
Lifestyle change is part of successful eating and exercise. Avoid eating for comfort or emotional fulfillment. Changing the way you eat requires lifetime commitment; it means that you have to follow the plan for the long haul. Find an eating plan that is healthy, and that you can stick to. While your main goal might be to lose weight, you should also focus on being healthy. Fad diets cannot give you both of those things. For that reason, you must carefully choose your eating plan.

From the beginning of time, people have tried to survive and they have been searching for ways to live longer or even forever. We can make some simple changes to our diet and take certain health supplements that will help us to be healthier and live longer.
We will start by talking about the average persons diet. In today’s fast paced world, we have gotten away from preparing fresh meals and rely instead on prepackaged meals, fast food, and lots of processed sugars. Fast food is the most unhealthy, nutrient deficient food on the planet and if you think differently there isn’t much I can do for you. I would advise you to watch a movie called Super Size Me which chronicles a man who ate nothing but fast food for 30 days. As you can guess, it didn’t help his health any, but I don’t want to ruin it so go see what fast food will do to you.
Another area that probably needs changing is what you drink. This can be even worse than what you eat because you can drink hundreds of calories of soda, milkshake, or cappuccino without even thinking about it. If you can stop drinking sugary drinks like sodas, you will feel much better. Your dentist tells you these types of drinks eat holes in your teeth. Imagine what they do to the rest of your body.

One other thing you can do that is even easier than changing your diet is to start taking health supplements. With how nutrient deficient most of our food is, everybody should be taking a daily multi-vitamin. Beyond that, it is important to make sure you have a good supply of antioxidants. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals inside your body which destroy healthy cells. One of the best sources of antioxidants is acai berry and you have probably heard a lot about them already. Another antioxidant that you may not have heard of is called resveratrol. Resveratrol supplements have started becoming very popular after being featured on news programs and talk shows. There is still a lot of research to be done, but early indications are that resveratrol can help cure many age related diseases and help you live a longer healthier life.
For the record, I am not a physician and have never had any formal medical training. I present this article for informational purposes only from my own personal research and experiences. You should check with your doctor before starting any new health and fitness program. You should also pay attention to your body whenever you start something new and keep an eye out for side effects or allergies. Good luck on your health and fitness quest!
