What does fitness mean?
This is really good question. Because many different people have their own thoughts about it. For a lot of people fitness is a loosing of weight and keeping you healthy and in shape and for others fitness is like the addiction. So they can`t live without it. So there are for sure a lot of degrees of fitness.

Fitness has a few meanings. The first one is physical. Fitness is the condition that your body is in. Good fitness allows you to do something that you in some way may not be able to do or it helps you to do something better. The second one is that fitness is a way of life. If you are not ‘in shape’ you are probably moving somewhere backwards. Fitness means that you have a good strong body that looks good. When you get it you will be very enjoyed. You would like to do it more and more. It is like a journey. If you like to travel you will be satisfied with your fitness. Three, for many people fitness is a thing that can greatly improve your style of life. It helps you to improve your physical and mental health. Fitness is something you prefer? It is something like taking care of your body, exercising properly, getting good amount of sleep.

Fitness allows us to be always conscious in our life, to control ourselves. Many people become more disciplined with the help of fitness and they can use this discipline in their ways of life.

It may be ridiculous but I think fitness is like a drug. People visit the gym every day in order to look better, to be healthy and beautiful, to have big muscles. Fitness is the addiction and it can provoke huge changes in all ways of our life. It helps you feel better and have more energy for your own stuffs, for your free time. Besides when you are active and have a lot of energy, you burn many calories. Being fit will let you do more physical exercises. And it lets you exercise harder. It can also help you to lose your weight. Making physical activity has to be a part of your life, like brushing your teeth every morning and every evening. You can start with biking to work once or twice a week, using the stairs but not the elevator, or walking to the market. But you should talk to your doctor before you start all these exercises. If you haven’t been very active before or have some health problems you shold have the consultations with him for sure.

So everybody may think about the meaning of fitness and choose the right answer for themselves.

It is common scenario for people to never complete a diet program they initially took with the goal of trimming up after calories and fats were collected from a bad lifestyle. Similarly, it is common for people to start using home fitness equipment and then leaving the machine up collecting dust at the corner because they have forgotten it.

Why not all people can stick to what they primarily embarked upon to improve their physical and health aspect? First, it is because of the lack of discipline. Second, focus was directed elsewhere maybe due to boredom, lack of determination and goal. And third, the lack of proper diet and fitness program – a carefully planned guide which you can utilize to easily see your direction and accountability of every result.

If you are in the same boat, you are probably looking once again for another program where you think you can put your focus on for a long time and thus gives you realistic results of keeping yourself in tip top shape, both physical and inner health. However, even with home fitness program, you have the chance to succeed in your goal provided that you have the discipline, the right program, and focus or determination.

To help define what you really want in this particular aspect, here are some simple yet effective guides to keep you focused, determined, and disciplined and stick to your home fitness routine in a lifelong basis.

- If the home fitness plan happens to be your resolution for this year, don’t just think of it as a resolution for the whole year. Or don’t make it a resolution that benefits you for only a few months, or even for a year.

Rather, make it your lifetime resolution. Think of the long term benefits and think how it can give you a lifelong health and physical fitness. Think how it will be easier for you to live life as you age. That’s how a fitness and diet program should be. Long term goals are often easier and lighter to follow than fitness programs for short term effects.

* It is not necessary to spend hours and hours working out. A mere 30 minutes a day is enough to keep you fit and in shape. And remember that it doesn’t have to be with exercise equipment or machine. There are lots of other activities which can get your muscles working out, like dancing, jogging, brisk walking, and even when doing household chores and running errands. Also, you can buy exercise and yoga DVDs so you can use them at home.

* And this is the most important – eat healthily, rest properly, and avoid getting into disastrous vices such as smoking and drinking. You don’t have to eat fancy, healthy foods which you cannot easily prepare for some reasons. And you don’t have to be strict with this aspect. Just remember to count the calories you take in.

* Also, consider this goal as a gift to your family and loved ones. Taking care of yourself is an ultimate act that tells you actually care for them. It gives them less of the worries, lesser expenses on medical bills, and the likes. Plus, being healthy, fit, and active means you can give more time to bond with them by engaging in family physical activities.

From our very beginnings, as little kids, any time we put into our personal fitness is actually an investment in our future. Just as we try to build up our financial wealth, we should be doing the same with our health, as this will determine our quality of life as we age. Consider such things as the proven compound effects that smoking can have over the lifetime of a smoker and how detrimental it can be to their health. The opposite effect occurs when we do any form of fitness training even if it is only for a few minutes a day, or for short periods a few times a week.

It has been shown, failure to exercise regularly, can similar effects to smoking a pack of cigarettes each day. We don’t have to do hours of long intensive weight training 7 days a week to get fit or increase our overall wellness. To lose weight we don’t need to go on strict diets that are too hard to maintain. We simply need to stay active. In addition to the benefits that physical activity has on our body and its organs, it also has tremendous benefit to our minds! At eFitness for Life, we are strong believers that Physical Fitness Leads to Mental Fitness.

In most cases it takes quite a bit of time for most people to become overweight or severely out of shape and more often than not, this occurs from eating just a little too much of the wrong foods, a little too often. If we are to reverse that situation and only reduce our calories by 100-200 per day, to start, which is something that most people can achieve without too much difficulty, then the effect after a year or so can be quite dramatic.

Additionally, if we were to simply walk for twenty minutes three or four times a week, we would be a lot healthier after a year of such exercise. Adding a resistance training routine of no more than 30 minutes, three times a week would have significant effects. For those who cannot find that much time from the start, shorter, even as little as 10 minutes per day, on interval training routines that can be done at home would prove substantial.

None of these small changes will encroach on our lifestyle to any extent, but they can make the difference between normal activity when we age and the inability to get the most out of life. The sooner we start to make these changes the more health we are investing in for our future. One of the best things about easy fitness like this is the fact that it gets even easier the more we do it and oddly enough, most people find themselves enjoying the process more than they ever thought possible.
