Fall and winter are the harshest times of the year for our skin. The skin needs extra care to keep it moisturized during this time of year. Maintain radiant and healthy skin throughout the holiday season and into the new year by following these fall and winter organic skin care tips.

1. Drink Water Frequently

Drinking lots of water will help you to hydrate your skin. Don’t leave the house without taking a bottle of juice, tea or water with you. When it’s cold, hot herbal tea can work miracles. Constantly hydrating yourself helps you maintain your skin’s healthy glow no matter how cold it gets.

2. Remove Dead Skin Cells with Regular Exfoliation

Keep your skin feeling fresh by using a facial or body scrub to remove dead skin cells. You don’t need to buy expensive products for the job. Use a recipe that uses items you can find in your own kitchen to create an exfoliant.

3. Use Organic Products to Moisturize

Moisturize your skin after exfoliating it. There are various all natural, organic skin moisturizers available. Free of harsh chemical preservatives, these organic products help protect rather than harm your skin.

4. Remember to Apply Sunscreen

Summer isn’t the only time you need to apply sunscreen when outdoors. A sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 15 is necessary. Sunscreens made from organic ingredients are available on the market. Some sunscreens do double duty because they protect from the sun and contain moisturizing agents. Protect your skin from the harsh environment with a good sunscreen.

5. Always Don Your Gloves

When your mother made a fuss about wearing gloves in the winter, she knew what she was talking about. Don’t leave home in the cold without a pair of gloves. Look for gloves made of hemp or other organic material. In addition to keeping your hands warm and dry, they will also protect your skin from harsh elements.

6. Take an Organic Oil Bath

You can hydrate your skin and relax your body with an organic bath oil. For instance, a lavendar bath nourishes the skin while relaxing the body and calming the senses. A few drops of the oil in your bath water will do wonders for you after a tiring day at the office (or, in case of the Christmas Season, the mall).

7. Use Organic Lip Balm to Protect Your Lips

Your lips will often get chapped during fall and winter. This is because both the use of indoor heaters and the cold elements themselves can cause lips to chap. The best way to avoid chapping is to use an organic lip balm. Always keep one in your pocket or purse. After all, you never know when you’ll need one. Anyone who has suffered from chapped lips can tell you that lip balm is something one should never be without!
